Our history began in 1868. Organized from a mission in 1878, St. John AME Church has been worshiping through two turns of the century at the corner of 7th and Topeka Boulevard since 1886. We worship and serve God together as a community of believers. We nurture the faith of God's people in a variety of ways, including adult and children education programs, missionary projects, outreach programs, prayer, visitation and other ministries.

Vision Statement
To be a biblically functioning church; which is empowered by the Holy spirit and unite together in Jesus Christ to minister to the soul, body, mind and spirit of every believer and seeker.
Mission Statement
Jesus' words in Matthew 28: 19-20 provide the church with our mission: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you."
